Meeting on July 7th, 2025
Eich Neighbours Group

On July 7th, we had scheduled our first neighbourhood meeting. On that occasion, we discussed the following topics:

  • Project to install a night shelter for homeless people: Why we don't believe this to be the right move for the neighbourhood as it is, and what are our possible recourses.
  • Empty buildings: How to support investment in the area in order to solve this issue.
  • Traffic safety: Traffic is dense and too fast, especially near the school. The pedestrian lights in Eecher Plaz are not adapted to the reality.
  • Lack of community space: The neighbourhood would greatly benefit from having a dedicated space where the residents could meet.
  • The police station and bancomat that used to be rue de Mühlenbach have been removed, and now the closest ones are in Limperstberg.
  • The neighbourhood architectural heritage.

We then discussed what the next steps should be in order to make the Eich area better:

  • Clarify the current state of affairs of Eecherplaz buildings
  • Find a common long-term vision for Eecherplaz with the Ville de Luxembourg
  • Implement quick solutions to halt the decline of the neighbourhood while planning takes place
